BENIN CITY— COMMUNITY leaders and youths from Ugbokon community in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State, yesterday, gave reasons they prevented the lawmaker representing Ovia federal constituency of the state in the House of Representatives, Omosede Igbinedion from attending the ground breaking ceremony of the Prof. Pat Utomi $134million Integrated Farm City located in the area.
It will be recalled that a mild drama occurred during the ceremony last Monday, when youths of the area stopped the lawmaker from coming down from her car to attend the ceremony.
Efforts by Governor Adams Oshiomhole and the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Godwin Obaseki to prevail on the youths to allow her participate failed after the youths insisted that she lied to them that the project was attracted by her.
Addressing journalists, yesterday, the community youth chairman, Sunday Oviawe said: that “What happened was that she told our people that she attracted the farm and started advertising the programme on Television. But a day to the event, Prof Pat Utomi came and it was there we understood that it was the man who purchased the land and got foreign partners that will help build the farm.
“We found out that our lawmaker has nothing to do with it and we were shocked. So the youths and our elders became angry and we vowed that we will not allow her attend the ceremony because she tried to deceive our people,” he said.
