LOKOJA – The Maigari of Lokoja, HRM Alhaji Muhammed Maikarfi (III) has condemned the ugly situation of last week where hoodlums stoned the convoy of Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello at Lokoja Central Mosque.
The monarch also warned youths of the state especially Lokoja youths to desist from taken the law into their hands.
Maikarfi who gave the warning, Thursday, at his palace when he received some protesters who led a peaceful rally condemning the unruly behaviour of the hoodlums during last week Juma’at prayer.
According to the monarch, “God almighty chooses who he wants to make a leader. The emergence of Yahaya Bello was ordained by God. I urged the people of Lokoja and indeed the entire state to support the new administration to succeed in the interest of state.
“What happened last week Friday after the Juma’at prayer is never in the interest of Lokoja community. We regretted that the incident happened in a sacred House and it is disobedience to God and should not be allowed to happen again. We condemn the act and it remains condemned.”
Maigari who was represented by Alhaji Lawal Jiya pointed that Governor Bello was not the only governor battling to pay workers salaries in the country, noting that the immediate past administration left four months unpaid salaries which was inherited by the present administration.
He however, wondered why he (Bello) was treated in such bad light.
He said the governor had tried in the area of improving workers welfare, urging the people to pray for him instead of exhibiting ill-feelings against him.
Earlier, the administrator of Lokoja local government, Shiru Lawal said they were in the palace to visit the traditional council to pay solidarity with the governor of the state and also to condemn the unruly attitude of the youths.
He called on the youths in the state to support the governor to enable him achieve the new direction agenda of his administration.
