ISOBENDEGHE—Arangha and Aliba villages of Isobendeghe in Boki Local Government Area of Cross River State, have petitioned the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs on their purported exclusion from a 12 kilometre internal road project initiated by the ministry for the entire Isobendeghe town.
In the petition by the Village Heads of Arangha, Chief Lawrence Bekom, his Aliba counterpart, Chief Donatus Dakim and the Clan Head of Isobendeghe, His Royal Highness, Otushua John Ogar, the people protested what they claimed was an attempt by some politicians of Isobendeghe extraction to politicise the project with a view to excluding Arangha and Aliba villages from benefiting.
They commended the Federal Government for “the well intended project,” which, according to them, would impact positively on the people by easing the transportation of their farm produce to the central market.
They said: “It is, however, disturbing to note that this well conceived and intended programme is now being politically manipulated to exclude some villages of Isobendeghe. Some self-seeking politicians of Isobendeghe extraction have decided to manipulate the construction of the 12km road project to terminate at Nkanacha Village, leaving out Aliba and Arangha Villages.”
The chiefs appealed to the minister to “disregard the ill-intended machination of this cabal by ensuring that all Isobendeghe villages benefit from the project.”=================================== ***CONNECT WITH US***
