Police arrest four robbery suspects, recover weapons in Enugu

The Enugu State Police Command on Tuesday mentioned it had arrested 4 armed theft suspects working on Ugwuogo-Opi-Nsukka Highway within the Nsukka axis of the state.

The command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, advised the Information Company of Nigeria in Enugu that the 4 suspects had been nabbed via intelligence info and that an AK47 rifle and English pump motion gun had been recovered from them.

Amaraizu mentioned the suspects had been tracked down by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the command.

“It was gathered that the suspects recognized as Friday Nwafor and Nweke Lebechi who belonged to a infamous kidnap syndicate working with an AK47 rifle in Nsukka and its environs.

“They have been nabbed by the police with their AK forty seven Riffle at a spot recognized as one-man village, Kwakwa, Abuja, after a critical gun duel on Sunday at 7am.

“Whereas one Umar Garba and Adamu Ibrahim had been nabbed by police at their hideouts at Gariki Awkunanaw in Enugu South Native Authorities Space and Asaba, Delta State, respectively on Nov. 5 and Nov. 6 within the early hours,’’ he mentioned.

The command’s spokesman mentioned police had continued their manhunt for the opposite members of the gang.

“The command has renewed its onslaught towards criminals terrorising members of the general public to maintain the state calm and quiet all through the yuletide,’’ he added.(NAN)
