BREAKING: Four killed as police and kidnappers clash during rescue

No fewer than 4 suspected kidnappers had been killed on Friday after they clashed with some policemen from the Lagos State Police Command.

We learnt that a medical physician with St Francois Hospital, Onikan, recognized merely as Dr Ajayi, who was kidnapped by the gang, was rescued unharmed by the police group.

Our correspondent gathered that Ajayi had been kidnapped on Friday, December 9, 2016, by the gunmen, who attacked the hospital and made away with some valuables.

It was learnt that the case was reported to the police, and a manhunt was launched for the suspects.

Just a few days after the assault, the suspects had been stated to have opened negotiation with the sufferer’s household, demanding a ransom.

A police supply stated, “After they began negotiation with the household and it was agreed that they might accumulate about N10m, the police had been alerted to it.”

One other supply stated a police workforce, which consisted of operatives of the Speedy Response Squad and the anti-kidnapping unit of the police command, tracked a few of the suspects to Delta State.

He stated the suspects had been later found to be holding their sufferer in a thick forest within the Ibeju-Lekki space of Lagos State.

“We found that their hideout was about 9 kilometres into the forest. We pretended as if we had introduced the ransom for them. The person they requested to take the ransom was the primary to be arrested. We then requested him to steer us into their camp.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the incident, including that the state police would now not condone kidnapping.

She mentioned, “The automotive with which they kidnapped the physician was recovered, with a gun and a big amount of garments, believed to belong to different victims. In the meantime, the sufferer has been reunited along with his relations.”

When our correspondent reached out to the hospital by a phone line on its web site, a feminine responder refused to remark.
